Marketing Workshop, Inspector Training, Annual General Meeting and International Conference

The plan for the EAQUALS AGM and the International Conference to be held in Berlin from 22nd-24th April 2010 is nearing completion. The final programme is available here.

The Conference theme is ‘Upholding and Accrediting Excellence in Language Education', and EAQUALS is pleased to welcome Dr Michael Legutke of the University of Gießen, Andy Hockley, an Educational Management Consultant and Trainer, and Brian North, Chair of EAQUALS, as plenary speakers.

In addition there will be a range of workshops and presentations by specialists from within EAQUALS and from other organisations on the following topics:

1. Planning: Achieving high quality in curriculum and syllabus design, and the planning of teaching
2. Teaching: Achieving and maintaining excellence in classroom teaching and learning
3. Assessment: Accreditation criteria for the assessment and evaluation of progress and achievement in language learning, and EAQUALS Certificates of Achievement
4. Management: The management and marketing of language learning services: achieving high standards and good results
5. Quality assurance - self assessment

The Conference will be preceded by a Marketing Workshop for EAQUALS Members from 10.30 to 15.30 on 22nd April. The workshop led by George Pickering, a UK management and marketing consultant, will cover topics such as:

1. Marketing a language school/ language courses in an economic downturn
2. Alternative ways of advertising - how to spend less and achieve more
3. Quality in marketing - why should it make sense at a time of economic crisis?
4. New ways of promotion via the internet, and what should be the follow-up in the real world?
5. Internal promotion, and how to use our teachers and students for external promotion

There is also an Inspector Training Day for EAQUALS inspectors only, and an Annual General Meeting on the morning of 23rd April, restricted to representatives of EAQUALS members.
