The EAQUALS-ALTE Electronic Language Portfolio

The European Language Portfolio (ELP)

Aims of the European Language Portfolio

The Council of Europe aims to build a greater Europe based on shared values, including tolerance and respect for cultural and linguistic diversity. It promotes the use of the European Language Portfolio as a practical means of helping people of all ages and backgrounds to learn more languages and engage with other cultures. The ELP is also a means of presenting language skills and certification in any language, at any level and however acquired, in a clearly understandable way, using a standardised common European system of six language proficiency levels: the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

The EAQUALS-ALTE Portfolio

The first paper edition of the EAQUALS ALTE portfolio was published in four languages: English, French, German and Italian. It is now available in other languages such as Spanish, Basque, Bulgarian, Croatian, Romanian, Polish, Russian, Greek and Arabic. Further languages are in preparation. The EAQUALS-ALTE European Language Portfolio is accredited by the Council of Europe 06.2000.

EAQUALS-ALTE Electronic ELP (eELP)

The EAQUALS-ALTE electronic European Language Portfolio (eELP) is accredited by the Council of Europe and has been developed jointly by EAQUALS and ALTE. It is the very first electronic ELP to be accredited. It is based on the paper version mentioned above. The new eELP application is downloadable from this page free-of-charge, in English and French. It also contains the linguistic passport component of EUROPASS. The eELP will run on Windows, Macintosh and Linux.
