The British School of Trieste is a large, independent school that teaches English as a foreign language at all levels and to all ages. The main school – a founder member of both EAQUALS and AISLi - is located in Trieste and it supervises branch schools in the neighbouring towns of Gorizia, Monfalcone and Udine. We offer a wide range of courses, aligned to the Council of Europe Common European Framework of Reference scale of competences, from absolute beginner through to post-proficiency. Classes are formed on the basis of the learner’s age, level, objectives and requirements which may be of a general or specific nature. Lessons are conducted directly in English by teachers who are native speakers qualified to teach English as a Foreign Language. The learner’s progress is monitored and supervised by a team of course directors and directors of studies who support the teaching staff through a programme of continuous professional development (CPD), regular in-service training, and ongoing appraisal. The school offers the learner a wide range of Support Services in the Learners' Resource Centre. There is also a flourishing cultural programme which includes support for local theatres and an in-house magazine “Best Times". All adult learners from 16 onwards at the British School have access to a European Language Portfolio (accredited by the Council of Europe) as part of their programme of studies.
