The English Language Centre was established in 1997 by Hugh and Judy MacDermot in the beautiful English city of York. The school has grown to become one of the largest of its type in the north of England, offering top quality courses in a professional and welcoming atmosphere.
The school is in the very centre of historic York, a city which is considered to be one of the most beautiful and culturally rich in the UK. York is also a very safe and friendly place to study.
We offer professional language courses to suit every student, delivered by our experienced and enthusiastic teaching team. The ELC has a multi-media centre, free wireless internet access, 2 common rooms and a courtyard.
We also offer an accommodation service and a lively year-round social programme which takes advantage of the city and beautiful countryside beyond.
The English Language Centre, York, is recognised by the British Council, a full member of EAQUALS and a member of English UK.
