Eaquals International Conference – marking our 25th anniversary

Our April 2016 event took place in Lisbon. It marked Eaquals’ 25th anniversary and delivered a rich programme of professional development for language professionals.

The Conference was attended by more than 270 delegates from over 40 countries – a record for our Association.

The conference was opened by the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Dr Augusto Santos Silva, who paid tribute to Eaquals’ work in raising standards in language education and highlighted the important role of language teaching in promoting better global understanding.

Keynote speakers were:

Sarah Breslin, Executive Director of the European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe; George Pickering, renowned educational coach, consultant and trainer; Neus Figueras, Expert member of the European Association for Language Testing and Assessment (EALTA), winner of the British Council 2015 International Assessment Award; Jackie Kassteen, expert on international education marketing and policy; Philip Kerr, teacher trainer and author of the Inside Out coursebook series and methodology title ‘Translation and Own-Language Activities’ and Sarah Mercer, Professor of Foreign Language Teaching at the University of Graz and co-author of ‘Exploring Psychology in Language Learning and Teaching’

They were joined by expert trainers and presenters drawn from our international network of Accredited and Associate Members.
