The Human Touch in Digital Age: Reimagining Connection in ELT

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology are now woven into almost every aspect of education, shaping how we teach and learn. As language teachers, we are responsible for both embracing and fostering new literacies, digital skills, and emerging concepts such as prompt literacy, and AI output evaluation in our students. Yet amid this innovation, an essential question arises: how can we ensure that the deeply human essence of teaching — bonding and connection — remains central In an age dominated by screens and algorithms, genuine communication continue to grow through trust, empathy, and authentic interaction. This session explores practical ways teachers can maintain — and even strengthen — the human touch in digitally enriched classrooms. Through real examples and activities, we will reflect on how teacher–student relationships, emotional presence, and genuine dialogue drive engagement and learner growth. Together, we will look at the current realities of ELT in a digital world and reimagine how motivation can be co-created through connection, empathy, and care — ensuring that technology enhances, rather than replaces, what makes teaching truly meaningful.
