Cathy Jones

Catherine Jones is an Assessment Development Specialist at LanguageCert. She has worked in assessment for twenty years with expertise in developing multi-level language curricula, tests and teaching materials for a range of international organisations and governments. She holds a BA in French and History of Art from University College London.

Eoin Jordan

Eoin Jordan

Eoin is Senior Co-Director of the International Education and Lifelong Learning Institute at University of St Andrews, and has held a variety of teaching, administrative and leadership roles related to international and language education, mostly in higher education contexts. He has previously worked in Japan, Hungary and China, including as Acting Director and Deputy Director of the Language Centre at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He holds an EdD in Higher Education, an MA in Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching, a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).  

Eoin’s scholarly activities are focused on the enhancement of educational practice, often through the use of technology, but also based on an understanding of the nature of language, and on sensitivity to cultural differences. He is the lead developer of a range of online tools designed to aid users of English as an additional language with academic writing in English (www.readingandwritingtools.com), and has published and presented in the following areas of research and professional interest: vocabulary acquisition and testing; peer assessment; automated writing evaluation; educational technologies; language assessment for higher education admission; intercultural communication; English as a Lingua Franca and World Englishes.

Xuan Gou

Xuan Gou

Xuan Gou is currently studying International Education at the University of St Andrews. Her academic interests focus on how the voices of diverse student groups can help shape more inclusive institutional policies.
