What happens when 20 UK-based ELT institutions individually partner with 20 English Teaching Associations from ODA countries around the world to deliver a bespoke language improvement course for local teachers?
Between November 2020 and April 2021, the PRELIM project established these partnerships with the objective of developing the linguistic confidence of English teachers in contexts as varied as Guinea Bissau, Palestine, Cuba, Uzbekistan and Thailand. Our role at NILE was to support the process of partnership-building through the creation of a community of practice for the UK institutions and facilitation of the individual projects.
In this webinar, we will share the outcomes of this innovative collaboration and the lessons learned on both sides. In doing so, we will explore the following questions:
- What choices do we have in creative course design for teacher learning in remote contexts?
- What digital tools and platforms can be used and what have we learned about them?
- What approaches can we take to monitoring and evaluating a project such as this?
- What can we learn from working with colleagues outside our normal professional context?
