Ozlem Baykan: Improved well-being: A catalyst for the move from ‘self’ to ‘team’ and ‘organization’

Productivity, effectiveness and quality are the key areas that individuals, teams and organizations prioritize to achieve their goals successfully. To this end, the role an academic manager adopt is to support their teams in this journey by continuously developing a variety of skills, strategies and practices. Though being dynamic in its nature, leadership/management has been pushed to be even more transformational in times of volatility caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, what kind of skills, strategies or practices are required and can be developed to help teams thrive in a constantly changing context? Undoubtedly, those that lead to improved well-being are believed to have a great impact. Thus, well-being has recently gained more significance and this webinar aims to look into this area from the perspective of Self-determination Theory (SDT; Deci & Ryan, 2000) and ‘Growth Mindset’ (Dweck, 2006) focusing on the link between quality and well-being through giving some practical tips that can be applied in educational institutions.
