We are delighted to announce that Gazi University College of Foreign Languages: Department of Basic Languages has officially become an accredited member of the Eaquals family. As one of Turkiye’s oldest higher education institutions, with roots tracing back to 1926, Gazi University holds a rich history. Originally founded as the “Gazi Teacher Training Institute” commemorating the Sakarya victory, it later evolved into “Gazi University.” Beyond its primary focus on teacher training, Gazi University has significantly contributed to the cultural and educational landscape, pioneering developments in social science, science, art, and sports. The College of Foreign Languages (CFL) was established in 2006, further enriching the institution’s academic legacy.

The Gazi University College of Foreign Languages: Department of Basic Languages focuses on developing

students’ reading, listening, oral, and written communication skills in departments using foreign languages. Apart from English, the Department of Basic Languages teaches Arabic, French, and German. It assists undergraduate students in learning the target language during a one-year preparatory program, fostering independence.

The DBL provides a dynamic language education environment with a distinguished academic staff using modern approaches and technology for teaching foreign languages. This contributes to the professional development of faculty and the academic and social growth of students. The DBL aims to equip students with essential foreign language skills based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages which help students effectively pursue their academic studies. The DBL is dedicated to continual self-renewal and shaping the future through research and studies centered on human development.

The Department of Basic Languages distinguishes itself by adeptly adapting to the evolving dynamics of language education while consistently maintaining high-quality standards. Mustafa Akın Güngör, Director of Gazi University College of Foreign Languages, highlights that in line with their vision, the College aims to establish itself as a recognized centre of excellence in foreign language teaching, maintaining high-quality standards and Equals is an essential collaborator in achieving this goal.
