Member Event Fund Report: Implementation of innovation in education: practice, problems, prospects

On October 31 to November 1, 2019, the educational holding Study Inn together with the Association of the Human Capital, Education and Science Development, as well as the National Chamber of Atameken held an international forum on the theme “Implementation of innovation in education: practice, problems, prospects” with the partners’ involvement of near and far abroad. The forum was held in the form of a dialogue platform to identify or solve sufficiently global problems in the education of the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to develop proposals and recommendations for the relevant ministries.

350 people participated in the forum. The Ministry of Information and Social Development, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, NSC and Forecasting Department, Employment Department, Ministry of Education and Science, Association of Employers and Association of Private Colleges, NJS Holding “Kasipkor,” NAE named after Altynsarin, Education Department of regions and cities  Nursultan, Almaty, Shymkent, representatives of leading colleges, pilot schools teachers and methodologists of language disciplines, subjects “basics of entrepreneurship and business,” “Society and Religion,” authors and experts of educational literature for all levels of education were invited to participate.

The first day of the forum was held in the form of a plenary session. Olzhas Ordabayev (National Chamber of Entrepreneurs) moderated the plenary session and gave Urazayeva Aida (Director of StudyInn Language schools department) the honor to open the ceremony as the organizer of the event, where Aida announced that the forum was sponsored by Eaquals due to the fact that Study Inn won the Eaquals Member Event Fund.

Aida made a presentation on the EAQUALS activities and showed the importance of having international accreditation for educational institutions, motivated to work according to international standards, which will increase the level of education in Kazakhstan.

The second day of the forum was divided into 4 dialogue platforms in different thematic areas.

The First Platform discussed issues of vocational training, where the following topics were discussed:

  • Improvement of educational programs, development of professional standards, creation of vocational training and retraining centers, improvement of vocational education methods, provision of educational literature with Kazakh content of education.
  • A training manual “The Mentor’s Book” (dual training) was presented, as well as electronic educational programs developed by TKR Holding.

The second platform was called “implementation of the concept of state policy in the religious sphere.”

Study Inn created the book “Society and Religion.” The authors presented this book for secondary school students, which was successfully tested in Kazakhstan schools. Representatives of pilot schools took part in the discussion.

The third platform “development of entrepreneurial thinking in schoolchildren and college students”. The book “Basics of Entrepreneurship and Business” was also developed by Study Inn. At this event, the book was presented for secondary schools, colleges and universities, as well as an electronic platform of the APP Atameken Academy. Since this year “the basis of entrepreneurship and business” subject has become mandatory in 10 classes.

The fourth platform entitled ” Level based language teaching as non-native (foreign) and the implementation of international standards for assessing language competencies (Kazakh, Russian – L2, foreign languages (L3)).  “. The results of the social project of 50 pilot schools – sponsored by Study Inn together with Cambridge Assessment with the support of MES were presented at this session.

The discussions were attended by authors of books, representatives of publishers, teachers of pilot schools, methodologists, experts of RNCP “Textbook,” NCE Atameken, MES RK, NAE named after Altynsarin, MISD, MLSP
