The 2nd ADRIES (Adriatic Education Development Research & Innovation Symposium) Conference took place on 12th-14th October in Split, Croatia.

The conference had a wonderful line-up of speakers and provided a great opportunity for professional development and training for teachers, managers, marketing professionals and school owners. The conference itself was organised by AmberIT solutions, Jantar School of Foreign Languages and EupolisGrupa.

The conference was opened by Josip Sobin, conference organiser and owner of Jantar and the opening plenary was delivered by Ania Kolbuszewsla on the topic of “Trust versus control – the eternal management dilemma”. The management theme was further explored over the course of the weekend by Loraine Kennedy on “Great Expectation: Doing Your Best at Work” and Andy Hockly with “Managing Up: how you can be both effective and successful”. Jackie Kasteen ran a workshop on “The Rise of the Selfie: Leveraging user-generated content in your marketing and recruitment” and Jonathan Dykes also examined the area of marketing when “Revising the Marketing Mix”. The sessions throughout the three-day conference provided plenty of food for thought in all areas related to international language education.

Eaquals Executive Director, Lou McLaughlin, represented Eaquals and presented on “Accreditation & Quality Assurance: the potential for a cascade effect” which introduced attendees to Eaquals and #eaqualsfamily. Lou was delighted to have the opportunity to meet with Eaquals members in Croatia: Ziger, Kezele, and Linguapax and also Eaquals Associate Members CAFL.

All in all, a worthwhile conference set in the beautiful city of Split!
