Differentiation in Language Teaching for Sustainability
Future-Ready Language Teaching: Differentiation and Sustainability in Multilingual Programs
On May 2nd, 2025, Bursa Uludağ University School of Foreign Languages (BUUSFL) hosted a professional development event titled Future-Ready FLT: Differentiation and Sustainability in English, German, and French Programs. Supported by the Eaquals Member Event Fund, the conference brought together over 200 educators from diverse contexts, including K–12 schools, language centres, freelance teachers, and institutions affiliated and unaffiliated with Eaquals.
The event opened with a keynote by the Rector of Bursa Uludağ University, showing the university’s commitment to high-quality, forward-thinking language education.
One of the highlights of the day was the active student involvement. Students produced a university introduction video, supported session delivery, and created a magazine focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — offering authentic, meaningful contributions that underscored the event’s sustainability theme.
Sessions included panel discussions and interactive workshops led by subject-matter experts. These focused on
differentiated instruction, inclusive classroom strategies, and integrating environmental awareness into curricula. A collaboration with Macmillan Education added value by sharing tools and insights aligned with global teaching practices.
Participants left with actionable strategies and a deeper understanding of how to create inclusive, differentiated, and sustainable language programs — qualities essential for future-ready language education. The event concluded with a thank-you ceremony and a light-hearted raffle that celebrated participant engagement.
Reflecting the core mission of the Eaquals Member Event Fund Scheme, the event was accessible, practical, and relevant, reinforcing the collective goal of shaping more adaptable and responsible language education systems.
