In Memory of Virginia Cowley
In Memory of Virginia Cowley
We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Virginia Cowley, one of the founders of Eaquals, who died in January 2026. Virginia was the owner and Director of the British Institute Seville, which remains a Founder Member of Eaquals. At a time when language schools in Spain lacked a well-developed external accreditation framework, Virginia recognised the importance of quality assurance for students, families, and sponsoring organisations. Her commitment to meaningful accreditation played a key role in shaping the early direction of Eaquals.
Virginia believed strongly in professionalism, responsibility, and fairness in language education. These values informed her work and helped establish Eaquals as a trusted reference point for quality, both in Spain and internationally. Her contribution went beyond structures and standards, leaving a lasting influence on the association and the wider community.
Virginia will be remembered with respect and gratitude for her vision and dedication. We extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all those who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
