Purposeful Teaching: Lessons from the FLEPS Workshop

Supported by the Eaquals Member Event Fund, the 11th FLEPS Workshop Festival reminded us of something that is easy to overlook in a fast-changing profession. Innovation has the greatest impact when it is guided by a clear educational purpose.

Held on 12 June 2026 at Eastern Mediterranean University, the event brought together language educators to reflect on teaching, share classroom practice, and discuss current developments in AI and educational technology. More importantly, it encouraged colleagues to ask not only what new tools can do, but also why we choose to use them.

Why was purposeful teaching the focus?

The organisers selected the theme Teaching with Purpose: Reflection, Renewal and Growth in response to today’s rapidly changing educational landscape.
