AI in Action Conference 2026 | Istanbul
AI in Action: Transforming Language Teaching for the Future
Eaquals is pleased to support AI in Action: Transforming Language Teaching for the Future through the Eaquals Member Event Fund.
Taking place at Sabancı University in Istanbul on 13 June 2026, the conference will bring together educators, researchers, and policy-makers to explore the evolving role of AI in language education.
Exploring the Future of AI in Language Teaching
As artificial intelligence continues to shape educational practice, discussions are increasingly shifting from whether AI should be used to how it can be integrated effectively, ethically, and sustainably.
This event aims to move beyond tool-focused conversations. Instead, it will explore how AI can work alongside teachers to support deeper learning, informed pedagogy, and stronger educational systems.
The conference will focus on three interconnected themes:
- Systemic Integration: examining AI as part of a wider educational ecosystem rather than a collection of isolated tools
- Sustainable Transformation: exploring long-term institutional approaches to AI adoption and development
- AI Literacy as a Core Competency: highlighting the importance of critical awareness and responsible AI use across language education
International Perspectives and Expert Speakers
The programme will feature leading voices in AI and education, including:
- Mustafa Canlı, Director General for Innovation and Education Technologies at the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye
- Sara Ratner, University of Oxford Faculty of Education and AIEOU Hub
- Yavuz Samur, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Bahçeşehir University
Together, the speakers will contribute perspectives on innovation, policy, teacher development, and the future of educational practice.
A Space for Dialogue and Collaboration
The event offers participants the opportunity to engage in discussion, exchange ideas, and explore forward-thinking approaches to language teaching and learning.
Importantly, the conference encourages a perspective of AI with teachers rather than AI versus teachers, placing collaboration, pedagogy, and meaningful learning at the centre of the conversation.
